Create a Summer Treatment Program

The nationally acclaimed Summer Treatment Program has been used in clinical trials conducted under the auspices of the National Institute of Mental Health and has been named a Model Program in Child and Family Mental Health by the American Psychological Association and U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Association. The program has also been named program of the year by CHADD, the national parent advocacy group for children with ADHD.

Training

We conduct annual training sessions for agencies seeking to establish and operate a Summer Treatment Program in their area. The program focuses on principles of behavior modification and the application of behavioral techniques. Participants will undertake 60 hours or more of intensive instruction and practice for recreationally based settings, with a focus on principles of behavior modification and application of behavioral techniques.

Online Workshop

This workshop describes and demonstrates the information presented in the Summer Treatment Program Manual. Participants should request Summer Treatment Program Manual.

The training workshop will provide professionals who are interested in running a Summer Treatment Program with background information and review of the main treatment program components and procedures. The STP point system, including operational definitions, activity rules, behavior classification guidelines and data recording procedures is presented in detail. Daily activities, including the peer-group recreational activities that make up one of the primary treatment settings, are demonstrated with video examples. Other treatment components are reviewed and worksheet exercises are included. Finally, an introduction to the role-play activities that make up the primary STP training activity are introduced along with video examples.
