Research Areas

Carlos’ research interests broadly focus on the development and course of self-injurious thoughts and behaviors in children with disruptive behavior disorders and co-occurring emotional or behavioral difficulties. He is primarily interested in examining how early impairments are exacerbated across development and confer risk for suicide in adolescence and young adulthood. He is also interested in using this knowledge to identify intervention targets for youths at elevated risk.
